Acoustic: grab and go
No amp, no cables. Pick it up and play. Great for strumming songs around the house. The strings are usually heavier, so fingertips work harder at first.

There's no wrong answer here. The best guitar for a beginner is the one you'll actually pick up. But there are a few honest differences worth knowing.

Lighter strings and a slimmer neck make chords easier to press. You'll need a small amp or headphones amp, which also means you can practise quietly at night.
If you dream of campfire songs, go acoustic. If you're picturing rock riffs, go electric. Learning the music you love is the best motivation there is.
Chords, strumming and changes work on both. Everything in our course works on either guitar.
Five-minute takeaway: Live in a flat or have a sleeping baby? An electric with headphones might be the one you'll play most.
